Common Questions

Still have questions? Here’s what most people ask.

No. The teeth on the EquiGroomer and EasyGroomer are specifically designed to be too short to reach the skin. They work by catching dead hair at the ends, where the hair is dry and scaly, and pulling it free. Healthy hair is smooth, so it slides right past. There is no skin contact, no scraping, and no pulling. Most pets that have resisted grooming before tolerate it immediately.

Many other tools use longer teeth that dig into the coat to rake out undercoat. Those teeth can reach the skin and pull at healthy hair in the process. The teeth on the EquiGroomer and EasyGroomer are very short and curved outward, which means the blade catches dead hair by the ends without ever touching the skin. Only the hair that’s already shedding comes off. The healthy coat passes through completely untouched.

The hair that comes off is the clearest sign. Dead undercoat is dry and fluffy compared to the rest of the coat, and you’ll see it collect on the blade with each stroke. After a few sessions the coat will lie flatter, look shinier, and feel softer. That’s the natural oils coming through once the dull, dead layer is removed.
